Popular Lower Back
Stretches
If you are starting any kind of fitness program then you
should be concerned about your flexibility. Most people
know they should stretch after physical activities but most
don't. One part of the body that needs more stretching is
your back. You should consider doing easy stretches at
least every other day, and maybe even every day. It can
only take 5 to 10 minuets to get a great stretch.
Stretching is very important, whether you are planning to do
some sort of exercise or just want to get on with your day, it
will help to loosen up your body and leave you feeling
refreshed and relaxed. In particular there are a few lower back
stretches that you should learn about and which will help you
out significantly here.
These lower back stretches are not only back pain stretches
but loosening stretches that will help to unwind your body and
leave your muscles feeling soothed.
Simple Cat Stretch
This is definitely one of the easiest lower back stretches
to learn. It is a great exercise to do in the morning and at
night, and most people can perform it quite comfortably. On
hands and knees, you start by gently arching the spine, first
in one direction and then in the other, with coordinated
breathing. The goal here is to gently wake up the spine and
paraspinal muscles, increasing flexibility and ease of
movement.
Full Body Mobilizer
Another of the most popular lower back stretches is the full
back mobilize. This is a much more dynamic and complex movement
among all the different lower back stretching exercises out
there. All you do is stand with your feet hip-width distance
apart, your knees soft and slightly bent.
Slowly drop your chin to your chest, and then leading with
your head moving towards the floor you want to gently bend
forward at the waist until your hands reach your knees. Now you
want to use your hands on your knees for support and keep your
knees soft, bending as needed for comfort. If you can bend down
far enough that your elbows are on your knees, this is
great.
Then from this supported position you want to slowly
straighten your right knee while allowing your left knee to
bend even further. Feel the stretch but make sure that you do
not push too hard because you do not want to end up injuring
yourself.
Remember that all of these lower back stretches should be
done slowly and mindfully, preferably in a quiet room where
there will not be any distractions. If done properly, you will
notice results almost immediately, so just make sure that you
perform them properly and do not rush through the process
mechanically.
Keep in mind that these are just two of many different
stretches for the lower back that are out there and which you
can try.
